Seattle’s Winter Wonderland Beckons

The holiday season in Seattle is magical, and Spire offers a unique opportunity to live in the center of the excitement in downtown at the junction of South Lake Union, Belltown and Denny Triangle. Woodland Park Zoo WildLanterns, November 12-January 30. Explore the zoo like never before with a brand-new lantern festival unlike any in the Northwest. WildLanterns offers a larger-than-life, immersive experience featuring large scale animal and nature scape lanterns representing wild places from around the globe! WildLights Trail is back with hundreds of thousands of colorful LED lights in the trees and landscapes throughout Discovery Loop.

 

Festival of Trees, November 19-December 1. Kick off your holiday season with friends and family by visiting the Fairmont Olympic hotel in downtown Seattle to see their gorgeous designer holiday trees. Over 23 festively decorated Christmas trees honor heroic young patients from Seattle Children’s Hospital.

 

City Center Winterfest, November 26-December 31. Experience a world of sparkling lights, amusements and spirited entertainment at Seattle Center Winterfest. Throughout the five weeks of Winterfest, you’ll enjoy performances, a Winter Train & Village, ice sculpting and an annual campus lighting display.

 

The Nutcracker, November 26-December 28. The Nutcracker returns to the Pacific Northwest Ballet this holiday season. With its classic score, thrilling dance, resplendent costumes and scenery, and magical story, George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® is the perfect centerpiece for any celebration. Gather your loved ones to come enjoy our beautifully decked hall, and let your soul have its fill of holiday cheer.

 

Christmas Ship Festival, November 26-December 23. The Spirit of Seattle, the Official Christmas Ship, is decorated with hundreds of shimmery white lights and sails to different Puget Sound waterfront communities – around 40 in all. Choirs on board the Christmas Ship perform to guests aboard, to follow boats, and to communities gathered on shore.

 

Pike Place Magic in the Market, November 27. Your local Market has you covered this year with seasonal activities, gift shopping, live busker music, and more to get you in the holiday spirit! Enjoy the Market’s holiday lights and decorations all month long in December as you shop, including a great photo op on the MarketFront in front of the Winter Wonderland scene. Mark your calendars as Santa and special guest crafty will also be visiting the Market on December 4 and December 11.

 

Pioneer Square Howlidays, December 2. Bring your four-legged friend in costume for dog treats, a pop-up dog park, carolers, cocoa, and entertainment at Occidental Park.

 

Wonderland, December 3-January 9. This whimsical winter cabaret and burlesque show promises “a glittering parade of nostalgia, exploding with dance, laughter, and all the cheer of yesteryear” at Can Can Culinary Cabaret at Pike Place Market.

 

Urban Craft Uprising Winter Show, December 4-5. This huge annual market at the Seattle Center exhibition hall features scores of local makers bearing gifts from handmade clothing to crocheted kids toys to fine art. Each show is carefully curated and juried to ensure the best mix of crafts and arts, along with quality and originality. This bi-annual show features over 150 vendors excelling in the world of craft, art and design.

 

Holiday Pops, December 10-12. There’s no place like Benaroya Hall for the holidays! Join conductor Stuart Chafetz and Broadway star N’Kenge for this dazzling program full of holiday favorites, traditional carols and plenty of yuletide cheer.

 

Winter Solstice Holiday and Night Market, December 17-18. Seattle’s favorite indoor Holiday Market returns to Magnuson Park Hangar just in time for the holidays! Shop, nosh, and be merry with dozens of vendors, two covered seating areas with two bars and 20 food truck options across two festive evenings, including a 21+ late-night party December 17 and a kid-friendly excursion in the afternoon on the following day.

 

Seattle Christmas Boat Parade, December 18. Seattle Christmas Boat Parade is a Pacific Northwest – ‘must do’ staple. Boats will travel a full loop around Lake Union from Fremont Tug Boats to Morrison’s Fuel Dock.

 

Viennese New Year, December 30-January 2. The Seattle Symphony performs “music drawn from the glittering ballrooms of Vienna”, including waltzes, polkas, marches, and music by Mozart and Strauss at Benaroya Hall.
