Originally hailing Ohio as home, Spire’s Sales Manager Larry Ahrens has lived in 3 corners of the USA; WA, FL and NY with the last 22 years right here in Seattle. Bringing 18 years of experience in new construction real estate sales to the team, Larry is thrilled to introduce you to Spire and to showcase the thoughtful details behind this iconic new addition to the Seattle skyline – including some epic views unlike any other community in the PNW.
“I’m proud of many of my achievements in sales and real estate but will always love when clients get that sparkle in their eye when they’ve found Thehome”, says Larry.
“Spire has so many fantastic features, but at the top has to be its location. Why live in one neighborhood when you can live on the edge of three? The opportunity to walk to lower Queen Anne’s McCaw Hall for a performance or the new Climate Pledge Arena for a sporting event, and also have the ability to stroll up Denny Way to Whole Foods in South Lake Union or into Belltown to enjoy the SAM Sculpture Park is incredible! The 10-minute walk radius from Spire is full of places to visit and love.”
The bike trails around downtown, the proximity to local parks, the Seattle Center and to many of Seattle’s biggest employers, make this building stand apart from the rest. Homeowners will be especially impressed with the state-of-the-art automated parking valet system, three floors of amenities to enjoy, and the locally curated café lounge located right inside Spire’s lobby – complete with the works of local artist, Sam Stubblefield, who was selected to curate a private collection of art to grace Spire’s Lobby and amenity areas.
We caught up with Larry to get his thoughts on what makes Spire a stand-out property. Enjoy this behind-the-scenes insight from someone who spends most of his time at the building.
Describe your favorite view from Spire:
I love the north/northwest views from Spire which can be enjoyed in many places and from many floors. You have iconic views of the Space Needle, Lake Union, Mt Baker, The Sound, The Ship Canal Bridge in the distance, and all of north Seattle right in front of you. Residents will love watching sea planes circle and come in for a landing on Lake Union.
…and what about a sunset, where is the best spot to catch one at Spire?
I like to believe I’d be on the 41st floor on a treadmill enjoying sunset views of the Space Needle, Puget Sound and Lake Union, but who am I kidding?! I’d be on the 40th floor terrace next to a fire pit with a whisky, neat, enjoying those same views.
What amenity are you most looking forward to?
It’s a tough call with three full floors of amenity spaces which will all be enjoyed immensely, but I’m looking forward to the Theater room on the 3rdfloor. I’m a big fan of movies and streaming television and have several shows that I love to watch with friends. I can see the social gatherings being so much fun in the theater room with a large screen to watch favorite programs together. Plus, it’s nice to have an added space to host without having to worry about cleaning before guests arrive.
Foodies will love Spire’s 40th floor chef’s kitchen and dining room to host friends and family for dinner parties where they can create their new favorite dish they learned to make online or bring in a local chef or caterer. If you’re not in the mood to cook or host, there are a plethora of food options within blocks of our location. A local favorite is the G.H. Pasta Co just one block down 6th Avenue with amazing fresh, homemade pasta. Another block or two down the road also has some of my favorite local restaurants including Marination, Mamnoon and 2120. If all else fails you have unlimited choices for quick, convenient food delivery if you just feel like chilling at home.
Everyone who knows you, knows your side-kick Oliver. We hear people are buzzing over the pet amenities at Spire. Would Oliver give a paw of approval?
Seattle in general is a very pet loving city. Spire takes it a step further with a dog wash/bath located near ground level so you can wash your pet off after a muddy, rainy run before stepping into your home. And then there’s The Hydrant on the 41st floor. I’ve seen a lot of “dog runs” in my years selling new construction condominiums in Seattle, but I’ve never seen one that actually included a space for our dog’s humans to sit, relax and socialize with other pet owners. A patch of fake grass does not a condo dog park make. This is a true urban dog park.
In fact, my perfect day at Spire would start on the 41st floor at The Hydrant with my pug Oliver. While he enjoys the dog park, I would enjoy a beautiful sunrise rising over downtown Seattle and the Cascades. When we’re ready to hit the streets, our first stop would be to grab a second coffee in the café lounge located right in the Spire lobby, stocked with local coffee and pastries for me to grab on my way out the door. After that the world is at our doorstep.
What are people most surprised to learn about Spire’s architecture?
People tend to be most surprised when they see and learn of Spire’s Vision Glass. There are very few buildings in Seattle that offer panoramic, unobstructed glass around your home without any walls or obstructions to break up the view. Moving forward it will be very difficult for any newly constructed residential high-rise building to achieve this again.
